Game build
When I build my game I noticed that the opening time of my game increased rapidly. So now it takes for ages to even open Unity to edit something in my scene. When I press start it also takes about 20 minutes to open and load the game scene and that is just ridiculously long. I googled a lot over that problem but I couldn't really find out how to erase that problem. I don't know what I changed between my last build and this one because the one before was running much faster than the version now but the previous one had some bugs that I erased and now it is just soooo slow.It is sad that it's loading so long because that means nobody is gonna like to play it because nobody wants to wait for a scene for that long.
I think the loading time has something to do with all the assets in the scene and is not deleting not needed assets.
To tell the user that he has to wait I added a Loading scene but that doesn't help the loading problem. To check if it is doing what it's supposed to do I pressed play in Unity and saw that the program was loading the next scene. But it always takes a lot of time to do so.
I also stumbled over some small issues when I open and play my game. For example, the movement is a bit differently responding than in the play-mode in Unity.
Reflection on the paper
I must admit that I thought that paper would be easier for me. But I really had a tough time working on my game. Nevertheless like that I also learned a lot out of it.I chose to make a 3D adventure game and I sometimes regretted this decision cause I was not aware of the standards here. At home, we mostly work with Blender so I had to relearn how to work with Maya again and that program and Mudbox gave me a hard time. In this project, I created a character rig and weigh-painted for my first time. I'm grateful for the help and instruction from Andrea who showed me how to do that in Maya. I still think it's not really great but for my first time, I think it's okay.
cause I never had 3D animation I ended up doing the animation of turning just in coding. So the character is not animated. I also ended up doing fewer enemies that I intended cause lack of time.
I'm sad that the game is now ending up being very slow on loading but it was a good experience and I learned a lot through that paper.
For my game downloaded some sounds from freesounds.com and added them to the game. I also used some free Assets from the store, like a textures kid and the camera. They were working much better than coding my one camera following script our using too small textures.
