Black Magic Cinema Camera
Patrick introduced us to the Black Magic Cinema Camera today in class. Two volunteers put it on a tripod and added a battery pack to it. The also attached the lens to it, its a two guys job. One tacking off the lid and the other attaching the lens to the camera body. The red dot on the body and the dot on the lens are meant to match to rightly attache the lens. After the camera is set and the lens is attached, we turned the camera on. Always attach the lens before turning the camera on. Now we started to look at the different settings we could do in it.
As for our homework, we should do some research on the camera details.
Some facts over the BMCC
The BMCC has a full size 4/3 sensor and so has a crop factor of 2.28x compared to a 38mm film (full frame). So when I film I have to remember that when I want an outcome like a 50mm lens I have diffede 50 / 2.28 = 22. So for this I would have to use a 22mm lens to get this 50mm result.
Compare a full frame with the frame of a BMCC |
For filming we should decide between the Dynamic Range Film or Movie. The Film range is good when shooting outside. It looks flatter but it records every information and can be easily changed in post production. Movie is good for filming inside because if you film outside this setting will easily collapse to show the white spots.
