BSA131 Week Four - Talk with James Barr

Advice from James Barr

In class we skype with the producer James Barr, who lives in Auckland. Before we called him we watched some video produced by him. To get familiar with his music video I have watched them before the call on the day before.
An example from one of his music videos

He gave us some good advice how we should start with our proposal and how we can work on this assignment. He said we should choose a song we like and were we have a great idea to it. The proposal he mentioned that it's the most work and the stuff afterwards is just good planning. As a director of the movie we should alway know what is next and what the shot is gonna show. That makes it easier to move forward quick. Which is good because all the people that are working with you aren't getting anything, so we should buy them lunch and drinks to say thank you. We also should have in mind that this movie will be in our showreel and so we should do some real awesome things.

For the proposal he gave us the advise to do some visual picture or storyboard for our ideas. So the clients understands your idea better and get hooked up by it.

For actors we should ask the theater people because they are always eager to join a movie.

I continued to listen to the songs from the audio students. The ones I liked so far are listed here:
Broken - Paige
C'mon over - Valen
Don't Feel the same - Rooster Gang
