BSA228 - Week One

For the next class of Game Art we were ordered to prepare some games. One New Zealand developed game, indie game and a triple A game.

New Zealand Developed Game
For the New Zealand developed game I chose Flutter Starlight by Runaway. It's a mobile game and I think it's really cute.

Indie Game
Cuphead by StudioMDHR
Many little games in the Game. And the style reminds of the old Walt Disney comics and animation. It is a run and gun game and it has a lot of bosses.

Triple A Game
Assassin's Creed Origins by UbiSoft
I picked this game because I really like the art work in it and the history part.

Brainstorming

I met with other students from my class to brainstorm over ideas we had so far and get a little feedback on it. First I had no real idea what I wanted to do. Either way it was to huge or I don't know how to code it.

I  wrote everything on the whiteboard what I'm interested in or what it should contain.

Notes to get a specific game idea
notes:
competitive game: Mario Cart
  • Racing Game
  • Family friendly
  • Magic
  • flying carpets
  • witches brooms
  • snakes/dragons
After the brainstorm session I had a really cool idea of a 3D racing game with witches. The race would be located in a magical library and the witches would ride on flying books. The first to win the race would win a special prize. The witch could use some spells to slow the other opponents and get to the end first. But there are not just witches who try to stop you from winning there are also some bookworm who try to eat you or some assassinating books that comes flying at you.
