Today was the first class of Visual Effects. We watched some previous done videos from former students, so we have an idea of what we could do for the assignment. Afterwards we watched some clips of visual effects used in different movies.
Then we started to work with the program After Effects and learned how to use some basic tools, like the Text and Mask Tool. Also we learned how to animate a solid layer. We let it slide from outside the canvas to the middle. To do so we used key frames on the position. We set the first one where the rectangle is outside and the other key frame were it should be at the end. To adjust shape we use also key frames to do so. We used the the type tool to type in some text. This text shall come from behind the white rectangle into sight and slide to be beside the rectangle. It's start from the right side of the rectangle and because we don't want to see at this point we use a mask to hide it.
We can access a mask when we have select the Text layer and then select the rectangle tool. The program then knows that it's a mask for this layer.
At the end we where able to play around a bit.
